certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were

recognize the land, but they saw a bay with a sandy beach, where they decided to
run the ship aground if they could.

knowledge of the land, but they saw an inlet of the sea with a floor of sand,

when it was day, they knew not the land: but they perceived a certain bay with a

sea and at the same time untied the ropes that held the rudders. Then they
hoisted the foresail to the wind and made for the beach.

away the hooks, and letting them go into the sea, and freeing the cords of the
guiding-blades, and lifting up the sail to the wind, they went in the direction
of the inlet.

and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was
broken with the violence of the waves.

and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken
to pieces by the pounding of the surf.
【BBE】And coming to a point between
two seas, they got the ship to land; and the front part was fixed in the sand
and not able to be moved, but the back part was broken by the force of the
waves.
【ASV】But lighting upon a place where two seas met, they ran the
vessel aground; and the foreship struck and remained unmoveable, but the stern
began to break up by the violence of the waves.
