26:1夏天落雪，收割时下雨，都不相宜。愚昧人得尊荣，也是如此。
As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.
26:2麻雀往来，燕子翻飞，这样，无故的咒诅，也必不临到。
As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
26:3鞭子是为打马。辔头是为勒驴。刑杖是为打愚昧人的背。
A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.
26:4不要照愚昧人的愚妄话回答他，恐怕你与他一样。
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
26:5要照愚昧人的愚妄话回答他，免得他自以为有智慧。
Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
26:6藉愚昧人手寄的，是砍断自己的脚，自受损害。（自受原作喝）
He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.
26:7瘸子的脚，空存无用。箴言在愚昧人的口中，也是如此。
The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
26:8将尊荣给愚昧人的，好像人把石子包在机弦里。
As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
26:9箴言在愚昧人的口中，好像荆棘刺入醉汉的手。
As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
26:10雇愚昧人的，与雇过路人的，就像射伤众人的弓箭手。
The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
26:11愚昧人行愚妄事，行了又行，就如狗转过来吃他所吐的。
As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
26:12你见自以为有智慧的人吗，愚昧人比他更有指望。
Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
26:13懒惰人说，道上有猛狮，街上有壮狮。
The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
26:14门在枢纽转动，懒惰人在床上也是如此。
As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.
26:15懒惰人放手在盘子里，就是向口撤回，也以为劳乏。
The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.
26:16懒惰人看自己，比七个善于应对的人更有智慧。
The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.
26:17过路被事激动，管理不干己的争竞，好像人揪住狗耳。
He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.
26:18人欺凌邻舍，却说，我岂不是戏耍吗。他就像疯狂的人，抛掷火把，利箭，与杀人的兵器。（杀人的兵器原文作死亡）
As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,
26:19*
So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?
26:20火缺了柴，就必熄灭。无人传舌，争竞便止息。
Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
26:21好争竞的人煽惑争端，就如馀火加炭，火上加柴一样。
As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.
26:22传舌人的言语，如同美食，深入人的心腹。
The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
26:23火热的嘴，奸恶的心，好像银渣包的瓦器。
Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.
26:24怨恨人的用嘴粉饰，心里却藏着诡诈。
He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;
26:25他用甜言蜜语，你不可信他，因为他心中有七样可憎恶的。
When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.
26:26他虽用诡诈遮掩自己的怨恨，他的邪恶必在会中显露。
Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.
26:27挖陷坑的，自己必掉在其中。辊石头的，石头必反辊在他身上。
Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.
26:28虚谎的舌，恨他所压伤的人。谄媚的口，败坏人的事。
A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
