“要查考圣经。”其它书不会给你如此纯洁高尚的思想。你从别的书中也得不到深刻的宗教经验。当你花时间自省，谦卑地祈祷，认真研究上帝的圣言时，圣灵就会接近你，将真理启示在你心中。……{FH.24.4}
唯有圣经是我们信仰的准则。它来自生命树的叶子。以它为粮，将它领受到我们的心灵中，我们就会茁壮成长，好遵行上帝的旨意。……{FH.24.5}
我们若不接受以上帝的圣言为食的基督宗教，就无权进入上帝的城。我们既以地上的食物为生，培养自己喜爱世间事物的品味，……就不能赏识天上纯净的水流。……{FH.24.6}
耶稣说：“离了我，你们就不能做什么”（约15:5）。我们若住在基督里，紧紧依靠基督，由基督来支持，从基督吸收营养，就会照着基督的样式结果子。我们住在祂里面并在祂里面行事为人；我们与祂合一且与父合一。基督的名在信主的上帝儿女身上得荣耀。这就是圣经的宗教。——《评论与通讯》，1897年5月4日。{FH.24.7}
Bible Religion Is Practical, January 12
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.?James 1:27.?{FH 24.1}[1]
Bible religion is not a garment which can be put on and taken off at pleasure. It is an all-pervading influence which leads us to be patient, self-denying followers of Christ, doing as He did, walking as He walked.... This religion teaches us to exercise patience and long-suffering when brought into places where we receive treatment that is hard and unjust....?{FH 24.2}[2]
But if the word of God is made an abiding principle in our lives, everything with which we have to do, each word, each trivial act, will reveal that we are subject to Jesus Christ, that even our thoughts have been brought into captivity to Him. If the word of God is received into the heart, it will empty the soul of self-sufficiency and self-dependence. Our lives will be a power for good, because the Holy Spirit will fill our minds with the things of God. The religion of Christ will be practiced by us, for our wills are in perfect conformity to the will of God....?{FH 24.3}[3]
“Search the scriptures.” No other book will give you such pure, elevating, ennobling thoughts; from no other book can you obtain a deep religious experience. When you devote time to self-examination, to humble prayer, to earnest study of God’s Word, the Holy Spirit is near to apply the truth to your heart....?{FH 24.4}[4]
The Bible, and the Bible alone, is to be the rule of our faith. It is a leaf from the tree of life, and by eating it, by receiving it into our minds, we shall grow strong to do the will of God....?{FH 24.5}[5]
If we do not receive the religion of Christ by feeding upon the Word of God, we shall not be entitled to an entrance into the city of God. Having lived on earthly food, having educated our tastes to love worldly things, ... we could not appreciate the pure, heavenly current that circulates in heaven....?{FH 24.6}[6]
Jesus says, “Without me ye can do nothing.” Living in Christ, adhering to Christ, supported by Christ, drawing nourishment from Christ, we bear fruit after the similitude of Christ. We live and move in Him; we are one with Him and one with the Father. The name of Christ is glorified in the believing child of God.
