圣经里含有一套简明完整的神学与哲学体系。这是一本使我们有得救智慧的书，告诉我们怎样到达那永远幸福的居所，告诉我们救赎计划中所显示的上帝之爱，还传达了一切知识中最重要的知识，就是关于基督的知识。祂是上帝所差来的，是我们救恩的创始者。离开了上帝的话，我们就不知道有这样一位主耶稣基督，曾经到过我们世界上来，也不知道祂所具有的神性。就是祂原与天父同在所证明的。{FH.39.2}
圣经不是单为学者写的。反之，它是为普通人预备的。关于我们得救所需要的伟大真理，昭明若午日。除了那些随从自己的判断而非上帝明显旨意的人之外，没有人会走错路或迷失方向。{FH.39.3}
上帝的话打击品格中每一个错误的特性，从内心到外表塑造整个人，降卑他的骄傲和自高，引导他把基督的精神带入生活的大小本分中。上帝的话教导人始终不渝地忠于公义和纯正，同时不失仁慈与怜悯。{FH.39.4}
我们越研究圣经，就会越赏识它。研究圣经的人不论读到哪里，都会发现有上帝的爱和无穷的智慧摆在他面前。凡真正悔改的人，都以上帝的圣言为生活的喜乐和安慰。上帝的灵在跟他们讲话，他们的心就象浇灌过的园子一样。……{FH.39.5}
从研读上帝圣言而获得的知识，是坚定不移，前后一致而影响深远的。没有其它知识可以与之相比。在这广阔的世界中，即或没有其它的书，上帝的圣言若借着基督的恩典在生活上实践出来，也会使我们在今世得以完全，并具有配享受将来不朽生命的品格。凡研读圣言，相信这是真理，并将它接纳于自己品格中的人，就必在那位包括一切又住在各人之内的主里面得以完全。感谢上帝！把这一切前途摆在人面前。——《评论与通讯》，1908年6月11日。{FH.39.6}
What the Word Is to Us, January 27
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.?2 Timothy 2:15.?{FH 39.1}[1]
The Bible contains a simple and complete system of theology and philosophy. It is the book that makes us wise unto salvation. It tells us how to reach the abode of eternal happiness. It tells us of the love of God as shown in the plan of redemption, imparting the knowledge essential for all—the knowledge of Christ. He is the Sent of God; He is the Author of our salvation. But apart from the Word of God we could have no knowledge that such a person as the Lord Jesus Christ ever visited our world, nor any knowledge of His divinity, as indicated by His previous existence with the Father.?{FH 39.2}[2]
The Bible is not written for the scholar alone; on the contrary, it was designed for the common people. The great truths necessary for our salvation are made as clear as noonday, and none will mistake and lose their way except those who follow their own judgment instead of the plainly revealed will of God.?{FH 39.3}[3]
The Word of God strikes at every wrong trait of character, molding the whole person, internally and externally, abasing pride and self-exaltation, leading that person to bring the spirit of Christ into the smaller as well as the larger duties of life. It teaches all to be unswerving in their allegiance to justice and purity, and at the same time always to be kind and compassionate.?{FH 39.4}[4]
The appreciation of the Bible grows with its study. Whichever way the student may turn, the infinite wisdom and love of God is displayed. To all who are truly converted, the Word of God is the joy and consolation of the life. The Spirit of God speaks to them, and their heart becomes like a watered garden....?{FH 39.5}[5]
No knowledge is so firm, so consistent, so far-reaching, as that obtained from a study of the Word of God. If there were not another book in the wide world, the Word of God, lived out through the grace of Christ, would make us perfect in this world, with a character fitted for the future, immortal life. Those who study the Word, taking it in faith as the truth and receiving it into the character, will be complete in Him who is all in all.
