    [niv] Ephraim feeds on the wind; he pursues the east wind all day and multiplies lies and violence. He makes a treaty with Assyria and sends olive oil to Egypt.
    [asv] Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he continually multiplieth lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

    [bbe] The deceit of Ephraim and the false words of Israel are about me on every side. ...
12:2 [cbgb] 耶和华与犹大争辩,必照雅各所行的惩罚他,按他所做的报应他。 < | >
    [niv] The LORD has a charge to bring against Judah; he will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.
    [asv] Jehovah hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
    [jnd] Jehovah hath also a controversy with Judah, and he will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

    [bbe] Ephraim's food is the wind, and he goes after the east wind: deceit and destruction are increasing day by day; they make an agreement with Assyria, and take oil into Egypt.
12:3 [cbgb] 他在腹中抓住哥哥的脚跟,壮年的时候与 神较力。 < | >
    [niv] In the womb he grasped his brother's heel; as a man he struggled with God.
    [asv] In the womb he took his brother by the heel; and in his manhood he had power with God:

    [niv] He struggled with the angel and overcame him; he wept and begged for his favor. He found him at Bethel and talked with him there--
    [asv] yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him at Beth-el, and there he spake with us,

12:5 [cbgb] 耶和华万军之 神在那里晓谕我们以色列人,耶和华是他可记念的名。 < | >
    [niv] the LORD God Almighty, the LORD is his name of renown!
    [asv] even Jehovah, the God of hosts; Jehovah is his memorial name.

12:6 [cbgb] 所以你当归向你的 神,谨守仁爱,公平,常常等候你的 神。 < | >
    [niv] But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always.
    [asv] Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep kindness and justice, and wait for thy God continually.
    [jnd] And thou, return unto thy God: keep loving-kindness and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.

12:7 [cbgb] 以法莲是商人,手里有诡诈的天平,爱行欺骗。 < | >
    [niv] The merchant uses dishonest scales; he loves to defraud.
    [asv] He is a trafficker, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.

12:8 [cbgb] 以法莲说,我果然成了富足,得了财宝,我所劳碌得来的,人必不见有什么不义,可算为罪的。 < | >
    [niv] Ephraim boasts, "I am very rich; I have become wealthy. With all my wealth they will not find in me any iniquity or sin."
    [asv] And Ephraim said, Surely I am become rich, I have found me wealth: in all my labors they shall find in me no iniquity that were sin.
    [jnd] And Ephraim saith, Nevertheless I am become rich, I have found me out substance; in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
    [kjv] And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
    [nwb] And Ephraim said, Yet I have become rich, I have found for myself substance: all my labors they shall find no iniquity in me that sin.
    [rsv] E'phraim has said, "Ah, but I am rich, I have gained wealth for myself": but all his riches can never offset the guilt he has incurred.
    [web] Ephraim said, Surely I have become rich, I have found myself wealth: in all my labors they shall find in me no iniquity that is sin.
    [ylt] And Ephraim saith: `Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself, All my labours -- they find not against me iniquity that sin.'
    [bbe] As for Canaan, the scales of deceit are in his hands; he takes pleasure in twisted ways.
12:9 [cbgb] 自从你出埃及地以来,我就是耶和华你的 神,我必使你再住帐棚,如在大会的日子一样。 < | >
    [niv] "I am the LORD your God, out of Egypt; I will make you live in tents again, as in the days of your appointed feasts.
    [asv] But I am Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt; I will yet again make thee to dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
    [jnd] But I Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt will again make thee to dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
    [kjv] And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

    [niv] I spoke to the prophets, gave them many visions and told parables through them."
    [asv] I have also spoken unto the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets have I used similitudes.

    [niv] Is Gilead wicked? Its people are worthless! Do they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal? Their altars will be like piles of stones on a plowed field.
    [asv] Is Gilead iniquity? they are altogether false; in Gilgal they sacrifice bullocks; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the field.
    [jnd] If Gilead is iniquity, surely they are but vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.

    [niv] Jacob fled to the country of Aram ; Israel served to get a wife, and to pay for her he tended sheep.

    [niv] The LORD used a prophet to bring Israel up from Egypt, by a prophet he cared for him.
    [asv] And by a prophet Jehovah brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

12:14 [cbgb] 以法莲大大惹动主怒,所以他流血的罪,必归在他身上,主必将那因以法莲所受的羞辱归还他。 <
    [niv] But Ephraim has bitterly provoked him to anger; his Lord will leave upon him the guilt of his bloodshed and will repay him for his contempt.
    [asv] Ephraim hath provoked to anger most bitterly: therefore shall his blood be left upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
    [jnd] Ephraim provoked to anger most bitterly; and his Lord shall leave his blood upon him, and recompense unto him his reproach.
    [kjv] Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his LORD return unto him.
