    [niv] When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.

2:6 [cbgb] 犹大地的伯利恒阿,你在犹大诸城中,并不是最小的。因为将来有一位君王,要从你那里出来,牧养我以色列民。 < | >
    [niv] "`But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.' "
    [asv] And thou Bethlehem, land of Judah,  Art in no wise least among the princes of Judah:  For out of thee shall come forth a governor,  Who shall be shepherd of my people Israel.
    [jnd] And *thou* Bethlehem, land of Juda, art in no wise the least among the governors of Juda; for out of thee shall go forth a leader who shall shepherd my people Israel.

    [niv] Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.
    [asv] Then Herod privily called the Wise-men, and learned of them exactly what time the star appeared.

    [niv] He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."

    [niv] And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.
    [asv] And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

    [niv] When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."
    [asv] Now when they were departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I tell thee: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

    [ylt] And on their having withdrawn, lo, a messenger of the Lord doth appear in a dream to Joseph, saying, `Having risen, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and be thou there till I may speak to thee, for Herod is about to seek the child to destroy him.'
    [bbe] And when they had gone, an angel of the Lord came to Joseph in a dream, saying, Get up and take the young child and his mother, and go into Egypt, and do not go from there till I give you word; for Herod will be searching for the young child to put him to death.

2:16 [cbgb] 希律见自己被博士愚弄,就大大发怒,差人将伯利恒城里,并四境所有的男孩,照着他向博士仔细查问的时候,凡两岁以里的,都杀尽了。 < | >
    [niv] When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.
    [asv] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the Wise-men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly learned of the Wise-men.
    [jnd] Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the magi, was greatly enraged; and sent and slew all the boys which in Bethlehem, and in all its borders, from two years and under, according to the time which he had accurately inquired from the magi.
    [kjv] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
    [nwb] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all its borders, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
    [rsv] Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, was in a furious rage, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time which he had ascertained from the wise men.

Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent forth, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem, and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.
    [ylt] Then Herod, having seen that he was deceived by the mages, was very wroth, and having sent forth, he slew all the male children in Beth-Lehem, and in all its borders, from two years and under, according to the time that he inquired exactly from the mages.
    [bbe] Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, was very angry; and he sent out, and put to death all the male children in Beth-lehem and in all the parts round about it, from two years old and under, acting on the knowledge which he had got with care from the wise men.

    [niv] Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

    [niv] "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more."

    [niv] and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead."

    [niv] But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,
    [asv] But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither; and being warned of God in a dream, he withdrew into the parts of Galilee,

    [bbe] But when it came to his ears that Archelaus was ruling over Judaea in the place of his father Herod, he was in fear of going there; and God having given him news of the danger in a dream, he went out of the way into the country parts of Galilee.
