    [niv] "Be careful not to do your `acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
    [asv] Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
    [jnd] Take heed not to do your alms before men to be seen of them, otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.
    [kjv] Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
    [nwb] Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen by them: otherwise ye have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
    [rsv] "Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
    [web] . "Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
    [ylt] `Take heed your kindness not to do before men, to be seen by them, and if not -- reward ye have not from your Father who in the heavens;
    [bbe] Take care not to do your good works before men, to be seen by them; or you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
    [niv] "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
    [asv] When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.
    [jnd] When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
    [kjv] Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
    [nwb] Therefore, when thou doest alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Verily, I say to you, they have their reward.
    [rsv] "Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
    [web] Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don't sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
    [ylt] whenever, therefore, thou mayest do kindness, thou mayest not sound a trumpet before thee as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may have glory from men; verily I say to you -- they have their reward!
    [bbe] When then you give money to the poor, do not make a noise about it, as the false-hearted men do in the Synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Truly, I say to you, They have their reward.
    [niv] But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
    [asv] But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
    [jnd] But thou, when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand does;
    [kjv] But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
    [nwb] But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
    [rsv] But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
    [web] But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does,
    [ylt] `But thou, doing kindness, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth,
    [bbe] But when you give money, let not your left hand see what your right hand does:
    [niv] so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
    [asv] that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.
    [jnd] so that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render to thee.
    [kjv] That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
    [nwb] That thy alms may be in secret; and thy Father who seeth in secret, himself will reward thee openly.
    [rsv] so that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
    [web] so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
    [ylt] that thy kindness may be in secret, and thy Father who is seeing in secret Himself shall reward thee manifestly.
    [bbe] So that your giving may be in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will give you your reward.
    [niv] "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
    [asv] And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.
    [jnd] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets so that they should appear to men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
    [kjv] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
    [nwb] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites for they love to pray standing in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Verily, I say to you, they have their reward.
    [rsv] "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
    [web] . "When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
    [ylt] `And when thou mayest pray, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites, because they love in the synagogues, and in the corners of the broad places -- standing -- to pray, that they may be seen of men; verily I say to you, that they have their reward.
    [bbe] And when you make your prayers, be not like the false-hearted men, who take pleasure in getting up and saying their prayers in the Synagogues and at the street turnings so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.
    [niv] But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
    [asv] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.
    [jnd] But *thou*, when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render to thee.
    [kjv] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
    [nwb] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly.
    [rsv] But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
    [web] But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
    [ylt] `But thou, when thou mayest pray, go into thy chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who in secret, and thy Father who is seeing in secret, shall reward thee manifestly.
    [bbe] But when you make your prayer, go into your private room, and, shutting the door, say a prayer to your Father in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will give you your reward.
    [niv] And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
    [asv] And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
    [jnd] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as those who are of the nations: for they think they shall be heard through their much speaking.
    [kjv] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
    [nwb] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
    [rsv] "And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
    [web] In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
    [ylt] `And -- praying -- ye may not use vain repetitions like the nations, for they think that in their much speaking they shall be heard,
    [bbe] And in your prayer do not make use of the same words again and again, as the Gentiles do: for they have the idea that God will give attention to them because of the number of their words.
    [niv] Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
    [asv] Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
    [jnd] Be not ye therefore like them, for your Father knows of what things ye have need before ye beg of him.
    [kjv] Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
    [nwb] Therefore be ye not like them: for your Father knoweth what things ye need before ye ask him.
    [rsv] Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
    [web] Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him.
    [ylt] be ye not therefore like to them, for your Father doth know those things that ye have need of before your asking him;
    [bbe] So be not like them; because your Father has knowledge of your needs even before you make your requests to him.
    [niv] "This, then, is how you should pray: "`Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
    [asv] After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
    [jnd] Thus therefore pray *ye*: Our Father who art in the heavens, let thy name be sanctified,
    [kjv] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
    [nwb] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
    [rsv] Pray then like this: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
    [web] Pray like this. 'Our Father, who is in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
    [ylt] thus therefore pray ye: `Our Father who in the heavens! hallowed be Thy name.
    [bbe] Let this then be your prayer: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
    [niv] your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
    [asv] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.
    [jnd] let thy kingdom come, let thy will be done as in heaven so upon the earth;
    [kjv] Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

    [niv] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. '
    [asv] And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

    [niv] For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
    [asv] For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
    [jnd] For if ye forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father also will forgive you ,

    [niv] "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
    [asv] Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.
    [jnd] And when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
    [kjv] Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
    [nwb] Moreover, when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to fast. Verily, I say to you, they have their reward.
    [rsv] "And when you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
    [web] . "Moreover when you fast, don't be, as the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most assuredly I tell you, they have received their reward.
    [ylt] `And when ye may fast, be ye not as the hypocrites, of sour countenances, for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men fasting; verily I say to you, that they have their reward.
    [bbe] And when you go without food, be not sad-faced as the false-hearted are. For they go about with changed looks, so that men may see that they are going without food. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.
    [niv] But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,
    [asv] But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
    [jnd] But *thou*, fasting, anoint thy head and wash thy face,
    [kjv] But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
    [nwb] But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
    [rsv] But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

    [niv] so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
    [asv] that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee.
    [jnd] so that thou mayest not appear fasting unto men, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who sees in secret shall render to thee.
    [kjv] That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
    [nwb] That thou mayest not appear to men to fast, but to thy Father, who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

    [niv] "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
    [asv] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal:

    [ylt] `Treasure not up to yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust disfigure, and where thieves break through and steal,
    [bbe] Make no store of wealth for yourselves on earth, where it may be turned to dust by worms and weather, and where thieves may come in by force and take it away.
    [niv] But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
    [asv] but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

    [bbe] But make a store for yourselves in heaven, where it will not be turned to dust and where thieves do not come in to take it away:
6:21 [cbgb] 因为你的财宝在那里,你的心也在那里。 < | >

6:22 [cbgb] 眼睛就是身上的灯。你的眼睛若了亮,全身就光明。 < | >
    [niv] "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
    [asv] The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
    [jnd] The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light:
    [kjv] The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
    [nwb] The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.
    [rsv] "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light;
    [web] . The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.
    [ylt] `The lamp of the body is the eye, if, therefore, thine eye may be perfect, all thy body shall be enlightened,
    [bbe] The light of the body is the eye; if then your eye is true, all your body will be full of light.
    [niv] But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
    [asv] But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is the darkness!
    [jnd] but if thine eye be wicked, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great the darkness!
    [kjv] But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
