Matthew 7 << || >>
7:1 [cbgb] >
[niv] "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
[asv] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you.
    [jnd] Judge not, that ye may not be judged;
[kjv] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
[nwb] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and the measure which ye give, shall be measured to you again.
[rsv] "Judge not, that you be not judged.
[web] . "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged.
[ylt] `Judge not, that ye may not be judged,
[bbe] Be not judges of others, and you will not be judged.
[niv] For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
[asv] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
[jnd] for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.
[kjv] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
[nwb] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thy own eye?
[rsv] For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.
[web] For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged: and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.
[ylt] for in what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, and in what measure ye measure, it shall be measured to you.
[bbe] For as you have been judging, so you will be judged, and with your measure will it be measured to you.
[niv] "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
[asv] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in thine own eye?
[jnd] But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye?
[kjv] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
[nwb] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thy eye; and behold, a beam in thy own eye?
[rsv] Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
[web] Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye?
[ylt] `And why dost thou behold the mote that in thy brother's eye, and the beam that in thine own eye dost not consider?
[bbe] And why do you take note of the grain of dust in your brother's eye, but take no note of the bit of wood which is in your eye?
[niv] How can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
[asv] Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
[jnd] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow , I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye?
[kjv] Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
[nwb] Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thy own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
[rsv] Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?
[web] Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye?
[ylt] or, how wilt thou say to thy brother, Suffer I may cast out the mote from thine eye, and lo, the beam in thine own eye?
[bbe] Or how will you say to your brother, Let me take out the grain of dust from your eye, when you yourself have a bit of wood in your eye?
[niv] You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
[asv] Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you.
[jnd] Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother.
[kjv] Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
[nwb] Give not that which holy to dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
[rsv] You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
[web] You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.
[ylt] Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then thou shalt see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
[bbe] You false one, first take out the bit of wood from your eye, then will you see clearly to take out the grain of dust from your brother's eye.
[niv] "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.
[asv] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
[jnd] Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you.
[kjv] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
[nwb] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you:
[rsv] "Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.
[web] . "Don't give that which is holy to the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
[ylt] `Ye may not give that which is to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, that they may not trample them among their feet, and having turned -- may rend you.
[bbe] Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, or put your jewels before pigs, for fear that they will be crushed under foot by the pigs whose attack will then be made against you.
[niv] "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
[asv] for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
[jnd] Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.
[kjv] For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
[nwb] For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, the door shall be opened.
[rsv] "Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
[web] . "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you.
    [ylt] `Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you;
[bbe] Make a request, and it will be answered; what you are searching for you will get; give the sign, and the door will be open to you:
7:8 [cbgb] 因为凡祈求的,就得着。寻找的,就寻见。叩门的,就给他开门。 < | >
[niv] For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
    [asv] Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone;
[jnd] For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.
[kjv] Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
[nwb] Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask bread, will give him a stone?
[rsv] For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
[web] For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
[ylt] for every one who is asking doth receive, and he who is seeking doth find, and to him who is knocking it shall be opened.
[bbe] Because to everyone who makes a request, it will be given; and he who is searching will get his desire, and to him who gives the sign, the door will be open.
[niv] "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
[asv] or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?
    [jnd] Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone;
[kjv] Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
[nwb] Or if he shall ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
[rsv] Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
[web] Or what man is there of you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
[ylt] `Or what man is of you, of whom, if his son may ask a loaf -- a stone will he present to him?
[bbe] Or which of you, if his son makes a request for bread, will give him a stone?
7:10 [cbgb] < | >
[niv] Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
[asv] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
[jnd] and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent?
[kjv] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
[nwb] If ye then being evil know to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
[rsv] Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?
[web] Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent?
[ylt] and if a fish he may ask -- a serpent will he present to him?
[bbe] Or if he makes a request for a fish, will give him a snake?
[niv] If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
[asv] All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.
[jnd] If therefore *ye*, being wicked, know to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him?
[kjv] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
[nwb] Therefore all things whatever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
[rsv] If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
[web] If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
[ylt] if, therefore, ye being evil, have known good gifts to give to your children, how much more shall your Father who in the heavens give good things to those asking him?
[bbe] If you, then, being evil, are able to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who make requests to him?
[niv] So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
[asv] Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.
[jnd] Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do *ye* also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
[kjv] Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
[nwb] Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide the gate, and broad the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in by it.
[rsv] So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
[web] Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
[ylt] `All things, therefore, whatever ye may will that men may be doing to you, so also do to them, for this is the law and the prophets.
[bbe] All those things, then, which you would have men do to you, even so do you to them: because this is the law and the prophets.
[niv] "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
[asv] For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.
[jnd] Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it.
[kjv] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
[nwb] Because strait the gate, and narrow the way, which leadeth to life, and few there are that find it.
[rsv] "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
[web] Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it.
    [ylt] `Go ye in through the strait gate, because wide the gate, and broad the way that is leading to the destruction, and many are those going in through it;
[bbe] Go in by the narrow door; for wide is the door and open is the way which goes to destruction, and great numbers go in by it.
[niv] But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
[asv] Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.
[jnd] For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it.
[kjv] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
[nwb] Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
[rsv] For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
[web] How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it.
[ylt] how strait the gate, and compressed the way that is leading to the life, and few are those finding it!
[bbe] For narrow is the door and hard the road to life, and only a small number make discovery of it.
[niv] "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
[asv] By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
[jnd] But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves.
[kjv] Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
[nwb] Ye shall know them by their fruits: Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles:
[rsv] "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
[web] . "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.
[ylt] `But, take heed of the false prophets, who come unto you in sheep's clothing, and inwardly are ravening wolves.
[bbe] Be on the watch for false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inside they are cruel wolves.
[niv] By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
[asv] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
[jnd] By their fruits ye shall know them. Do gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs?
[kjv] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
[nwb] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
[rsv] You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?
[web] By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
[ylt] From their fruits ye shall know them; do gather from thorns grapes? or from thistles figs?
[bbe] By their fruits you will get knowledge of them. Do men get grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?
[niv] Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
[asv] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[jnd] So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits.
[kjv] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[nwb] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[rsv] So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit.
[web] Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
[ylt] so every good tree doth yield good fruits, but the bad tree doth yield evil fruits.
[bbe] Even so, every good tree gives good fruit; but the bad tree gives evil fruit.
[niv] A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
[asv] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
[jnd] A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits.
[kjv] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
[nwb] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
[rsv] A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
[web] A good tree can't bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[ylt] A good tree is not able to yield evil fruits, nor a bad tree to yield good fruits.
[bbe] It is not possible for a good tree to give bad fruit, and a bad tree will not give good fruit.
[niv] Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
[asv] Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
[jnd] Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
[kjv] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
[nwb] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them,
[rsv] Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
[web] Every tree that doesn't grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.
[ylt] Every tree not yielding good fruit is cut down and is cast to fire:
[bbe] Every tree which does not give good fruit is cut down and put in the fire.
[niv] Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
[asv] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[jnd] By their fruits then surely ye shall know them.
[kjv] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[nwb] Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[rsv] Thus you will know them by their fruits.
[web] Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.
[ylt] therefore from their fruits ye shall know them.
[bbe] So by their fruits you will get knowledge of them.
[niv] "Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[asv] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?
[jnd] Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens.
[kjv] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[nwb] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out demons? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[rsv] "Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[web] Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[ylt] `Not every one who is saying to me Lord, lord, shall come into the reign of the heavens; but he who is doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens.
[bbe] Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will go into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the pleasure of my Father in heaven.
[niv] Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
[asv] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
[jnd] Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power?
[kjv] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
[nwb] And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
[rsv] On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'
[web] Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy by your name, by your name cast out demons, and by your name do many mighty works?'
[ylt] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things?
[bbe] A great number will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, were we not prophets in your name, and did we not by your name send out evil spirits, and by your name do works of power?
[niv] Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
[asv] Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:
[jnd] and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness.
[kjv] Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
[nwb] Therefore whoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock:
[rsv] And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.'
[web] Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'
[ylt] and then I will acknowledge to them, that -- I never knew you, depart from me ye who are working lawlessness.
[bbe] And then will I say to them, I never had knowledge of you: go from me, you workers of evil.
[niv] "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
