第二部分:对反叛的警告
以西结又写道:
“耶和华的话又临到我说:人子啊,你对推罗君王说,主耶和华如此说:因你心里高傲,说:我是神;我在海中坐上帝之位。你虽然居心自比上帝,也不过是人,并不是神!看哪,你比但以理更有智慧,什么秘事都不能向你隐藏。你靠自己的智慧聪明得了金银财宝,收入库中。你靠自己的大智慧和贸易增添资财,又因资财心里高傲。所以主耶和华如此说:因你居心自比上帝,我必使外邦人,就是列国中的强暴人临到你这里;他们必拔刀砍坏你用智慧得来的美物,亵渎你的荣光。他们必使你下坑;你必死在海中,与被杀的人一样。在杀你的人面前你还能说‘我是上帝’吗?其实你在杀害你的人手中,不过是人,并不是神。你必死在外邦人手中,与未受割礼(或作:不洁;下同)的人一样,因为这是主耶和华说的。{PC 63.1}
“耶和华的话临到我说:人子啊,你为推罗王作起哀歌,说主耶和华如此说:你无所不备,智慧充足,全然美丽。你曾在伊甸上帝的园中,佩戴各样宝石,就是红宝石、红璧玺、金钢石、水苍玉、红玛瑙、碧玉、蓝宝石、绿宝石、红玉,和黄金;又有精美的鼓笛在你那里,都是在你受造之日预备齐全的。你是那受膏遮掩约柜的基路伯;我将你安置在上帝的圣山上;你在发光如火的宝石中间往来。你从受造之日所行的都完全,后来在你中间又察出不义。因你贸易很多,就被强暴的事充满,以致犯罪,所以我因你亵渎圣地,就从上帝的山驱逐你。遮掩约柜的基路伯啊,我已将你从发光如火的宝石中除灭。你因美丽心中高傲,又因荣光败坏智慧,我已将你摔倒在地,使你倒在君王面前,好叫他们目睹眼见。你因罪孽众多,贸易不公,就亵渎你那里的圣所。故此,我使火从你中间发出,烧灭你,使你在所有观看的人眼前变为地上的炉灰。各国民中,凡认识你的,都必为你惊奇。你令人惊恐,不再存留于世,直到永远。{PC 63.2}
“耶和华的话临到我说:人子啊,你要向西顿预言攻击他,说主耶和华如此说:西顿哪,我与你为敌,我必在你中间得荣耀。我在你中间施行审判、显为圣的时候,人就知道我是耶和华。我必使瘟疫进入西顿,使血流在他街上。被杀的必在其中仆倒,四围有刀剑临到他,人就知道我是耶和华。{PC 63.3}
“四围恨恶以色列家的人,必不再向他们作刺人的荆棘,伤人的蒺藜,人就知道我是主耶和华。主耶和华如此说:我将分散在万民中的以色列家招聚回来,向他们在列邦人眼前显为圣的时候,他们就在我赐给我仆人雅各之地,仍然居住。他们要在这地上安然居住。我向四围恨恶他们的众人施行审判以后,他们要盖造房屋,栽种葡萄园,安然居住,就知道我是耶和华他们的上帝”(结28:1-26)。{PC 64.1}
第一个犯罪者曾大受上帝尊崇。他是用强大尊贵的推罗王来比喻的。撒但逐渐放纵高抬自我的欲望。圣经说:{PC 64.2}
“你因美丽心中高傲,又因荣光败坏智慧。”“你心里曾说,我要升到天上,我要高举我的宝座在上帝众星以上,……我要与至高者同等”(赛14:13,14)。{PC 64.3}
虽然他的荣耀都来自上帝,这位大能的天使却把这荣耀全视为自己的。他的荣耀虽然高过天上的众军,他仍不满足于自己的地位,妄想得到创造主所独有的尊荣。他非但不追求使一切受造之物以敬爱并效忠上帝为至上,反而努力使他们事奉并忠于他自己。这位天使长既贪图无穷之父赐给祂儿子的荣耀,便希冀基督所独有的权柄。{PC 64.4}
到了天上的斗争结束时,那个大叛徒还继续为自己辩护。当他和一切同情他的天使被宣布赶出极乐的天庭时,这个叛逆的大首领大胆宣称他蔑视创造主的律法。他指控上帝的律法约束了他们的自由。他说他的目的就是废除这律法。撒但和他的众使者一致把他们的背叛完全归咎于基督,声称他们若没有受到责难,他们是不会背叛的。{PC 64.5}
撒但的叛逆要成为以后世代全宇宙的一个教训,永远见证罪的本质和可怕后果。撒但统治的结果,及其对人类和天使的影响,证明抛弃上帝权威的必然后果,也证明上帝政权和律法的存在,与一切受造生灵的幸福是息息相关的。于是这段可怕的叛逆史将作为所有圣洁生灵的永久保障,防止他们在罪的性质方面受骗,免得他们犯罪,遭受罪的惩罚。{PC 64.6}
上帝随时可以从不悔改的人身上收回祂奇妙怜悯和爱心的标志。但愿人能思考他们对祂忘恩负义,藐视赐给世人的无穷恩赐基督的真正后果!如果他们继续喜爱犯罪而不是顺从,他们现在所享有却不欣赏的上帝福气和大怜悯,最后将成为他们永远灭亡的依据。当他们看明他们所蔑视的事时,已为时太晚。他们将明白没有上帝和没有指望意味着什么。他们也必明白他们选择悖逆上帝,违抗祂的诫命会带来什么损失。{PC 65.1}
上帝本着祂的大怜悯,对人们说了鼓励的话。对于凡悔改并转向祂的人,祂都提供丰富的赦免。悔罪乃是圣灵在人生活中运行所结的初熟的果子。只有通过悔改,基督所救赎的子民身上才会反映出祂无限纯洁的形像。在基督里蕴藏着一切的丰盛。祂教导我们要追求我们的主基督耶稣完美的知识,把万事当作有损的。{PC 65.2}
这种知识是人类所能达到的最高科学,是一切真科学的核心。基督说:“认识祢独一的真神,并且认识祢所差来的耶稣基督,这就是永生”(约17:3)。{PC 65.3}
时候已到,义人应该明白上帝的报应就要临到凡违反祂律法之人头上,而那些存谦卑的心与祂同行的人则要以圣洁的喜乐夸胜。耶和华是圣洁的,祂要求祂的子民也要圣洁、纯净、没有玷污。因为非圣洁没有人能见主。那些以真理诚心敬拜祂的人必得祂悦纳。教会成员们若肯放弃一切自我崇拜,把基督心中所充满的爱上帝和彼此相爱的心接到心中,我们的天父必不断藉着他们彰显祂的能力。祂的子民应当用神圣之爱的绳索牵引在一起。这样,世人就会认出上帝行奇事的能力,承认祂是守祂诫命之子民的力量和帮助者。{PC 65.4}

Lessons from the Visions of Ezekiel
Part Two Warning Against Rebellion
Ezekiel again writes:
“The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, Son of man, say unto the Prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee; with thy wisdom, and with thine understanding thou hast gotten these riches, and has gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: by thy great wisdom and by thy traffic hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches; therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas. Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? But thou shalt be a man, and not God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee. Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.?{PC 63.1}
“Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold; the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so; thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire; thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned; therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God, and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.?{PC 63.2}
“Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophecy against it. And say, Thus saith the?Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her. For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the Lord.?{PC 63.3}
“And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord God. Thus saith the Lord God; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant, Jacob. And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.” (Ezekiel 28:1-26)?{PC 64.1}
The first sinner was one whom God had greatly exalted. He is represented under the figure of the prince of Tyrus flourishing in might and magnificence. Little by little Satan came to indulge the desire for self-exaltation. The Scripture says:?{PC 64.2}
“Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness.” “Thou hast said in thine heart... I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; ...I will be like the Most High.”?{PC 64.3}
Though all his glory was from God, this mighty angel came to regard it as pertaining to himself. Not content with his position, though honored above the heavenly host, he ventured to covet homage due to the Creator. Instead of seeking to make God supreme in the affections and allegiance of all created beings, it was his endeavor to secure their service and loyalty to himself. And coveting the glory with which the infinite Father has invested His Son, this Prince of angels aspired to power that was the prerogative of Christ alone.?{PC 64.4}
To the very close of the controversy in heaven, the great usurper continued to justify himself. When it was announced that with all his sympathizers he must be expelled from the abodes of bliss, then the rebel leader boldly avowed his contempt for the Creator’s law. He denounced the divine statutes as a restriction of their liberty, and declared that it was his purpose to secure the abolition of law. With one accord, Satan and his host threw the blame of their rebellion wholly upon Christ, declaring that if they had not been reproved, they would never have rebelled.?{PC 64.5}
Satan’s rebellion was to be a lesson to the universe through all coming ages, a perpetual testimony to the nature and terrible results of sin. The working out of Satan’s rule, its effects upon both men and angels, would show what must be the fruit of setting aside the divine authority. It would testify that with the existence of God’s government and His law, is bound up the well-being of all the creatures He has made. Thus the history of this terrible experiment of rebellion was to be a perpetual safeguard to all holy intelligences, to prevent them from being deceived?as to the nature of transgression, to save them from committing sin, and suffering its punishment.?{PC 64.6}
At any moment God can withdraw from the impenitent the tokens of His wonderful mercy and love. Oh, that human agencies might consider what will be the sure result of their ingratitude to Him and of their disregard of the infinite Gift of Christ to our world! If they continue to love transgression more than obedience, the present blessings and the great mercy of God that they now enjoy, but do not appreciate, will finally become the occasion of their eternal ruin. When it is too late for them to see and understand that which they have slighted as a thing of naught they will know what it means to be without God, without hope. Then they will realize what they have lost by choosing to be disloyal to God and to stand in rebellion to His commandments.?{PC 65.1}
In His great mercy God has spoken words of encouragement to the children of men. To all who repent and turn to Him, He offers abundant pardon. Repentance for sin is the first fruits of the working of the Holy Spirit in the life. It is the only process by which infinite purity reflects the image of Christ in His redeemed subjects. In Christ all fulness dwells. He teaches us to count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord.?{PC 65.2}
This knowledge is the highest science that any man can reach. It is the sum of all true science. “This is life eternal,” Christ declared, “that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent.”?{PC 65.3}
The time has come when the righteous should understand that God’s judgments are to fall on all who transgress His law, and that those who walk humbly with Him will triumph with holy gladness. As Jehovah is holy He requires His people to be holy, pure, undefiled. For without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Those who worship Him in sincerity and truth will be accepted by Him. If church members will put away all self worship, and will receive in their hearts the love for God and for one another that filled Christ’s heart, our heavenly Father will constantly manifest His power through them. Let His people be drawn together with the cords of divine love. Then the world will recognize the miracle working power of God, and will acknowledge that He is the Strength and the Helper of His commandment-keeping people.?{PC 65.4}
